Gertrude Henson

Gertrude Emory Henson, 80, of 786 Garvin Lake Road, Gaffney, SC, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at her residence. Mrs. Henson was born in Buncombe County and was married to the late Austin Henson. She was also preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Emory and two brothers, Horace and Fred Emory. She is survived by her mother, Charlotte Ballard Tracey of Gaffney; three daughters, Shirley Fuller and Charlotte Wood of Gaffney and Peggy Watson of Candler; one stepson, Don Henson, Sr., of Cowpens, SC; eleven grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Friday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Her family will receive friends from 7 - 9:00 pm Thursday at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of local arrangements.
