Born in: Nebo, NC
Resided in: Candler, NC

A good life should be celebrated not mourned.

Girline Cope Price, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.

A native of Nebo, Girline was a daughter of the late Monroe and Annie Watson Cope. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul Price, who passed away in 1998; and her sisters, Willie Mae Burress and Myrtle Brackett.

Mrs. Price graduated from Sand Hill High School and retired from BASF with 40+ years of service. She was a longtime member of Edgewood Baptist Church, where she served many ministries, including as Sunday School teacher, WMU Director, singing in the choir, and working with VBS.

She was always ready to help anyone in need. She had a beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor, even during some of the difficult times in her life. A deep faith in Christ was the anchor of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.

The best way to honor her life is to remember a time she made you laugh or comforted you in a time of need. Do the same for someone else.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandi Turbyfill (Randy), of Candler, and Susie Nichols (Bobby), of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, James Monroe Cope (Barbara), of Stedman, NC; grandchildren, Brian Turbyfill, of Raleigh, Jessica Lowe (Tony), Joshua Nichols, and Samantha Richardson (Tyler), all of Myrtle Beach; and great-grandchildren, Christian, Hailey, Lily, Malachi, Jack and Blair.

A private service and burial for the family will take place at Edgewood Baptist Church. For those invited to watch, the livestream will be available at www.facebook.com/grocefh.

Mrs. Price’s family expresses their appreciation to the staff of Pisgah Manor for the excellent care and compassion shown for Mrs. Price for many years.

Guestbook

  1. Girline was the best ‘sister’ and friend I could have. James and I will miss her so very much. James loved very much.

  2. I took care of Girline for years at Pisgah Villa. We would watch The Bachelor together when my rounds were over in the evening. We shared alot of laughs and good times together. I have always carried a place for in my heart ❤️

  3. Girlene was one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew. She was the life of the party at our family reunions and kept up with all the family news. I will always remember her laughter and love of her family. I am sure a great reunion occured when she reached Heaven’s gate!

  4. Sandi, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I always enjoyed visiting with Girline at Ella Mae Dowdle’s home, or later at Pisgah Manor Nursing Center. She always had a smile on her face! I will keep you in thought and prayer. Sincerely, Dennis W. Jordan

  5. What a loss for the family. Mrs .Price and my mother always worked on the SandHill reunion team together for years and we’re good friends. She leaves lots of good memories here in the Candler Community. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

  6. Sandra, went to school with you and was in band with you. Occasionally went home with you. Your Mom was very friendly as well as your Dad. Remember they supported the band. Praying for you. Carokyn Shope Stamey

  7. I had the privilege of being one of Girlines caregivers at Pisgah Manor and she was truly one of my favorite residents. A loving lady who always managed to make me laugh. You will be missed and thought about every day sweet Girline.

    • Thanks so much for your kind words. We appreciate you so much. I always felt that she was being cared for and loved.

  8. I’m smiling as I think about the times I spent with my great aunt Girline. She always made me laugh and she showed concern for everyone. As an adult I came to appreciate her faith and her consistent implementation of Christ’s example in her daily life. She displayed His Light in all she did and set a wonderful example for those who touched her life. My thoughts are with you – Sandy and Susie – at this time of loss but I know you’ll be strengthened by the knowledge she is reunited with Uncle Paul and her God.

  9. Girline was the most fun to be around. She was always smiling and happy. I was lucky enough to be at Watson’s a few times when Girline was there and we had such fun.. I am proud to say that Girline was my friend and May she Rest In Peace.

  10. The Brinkley family had many happy times spent with Paul and Girline. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. I am very sorry for your loss. With love, Ann Brinkley ❤️🙏

  11. Dear Sandi, Randy and family, We only met Girlene in the later part of her life, but even then we could tell she was an amazing person. Always a kind word and that laughter was contagious! So many had memories of her at Edgewood. Your mother and father both were such an important part of building the church. Spiritually and Physically. She is where she has been waiting on all these years.

  12. I was Girline’s neighbor in Brigadoon for many years. Her ready smile, encouraging words and infectious laughter enriched my life. May you find peace and joy as you celebrate her life.

  13. Sandi, thinking and praying for you and your family today and in the days to come.
I know you will receive the peace needed from God the Father.

  16. So saddened by the news. May memories of wonderful times spent with your mom soon replace the loss felt today….

  17. Sandi – Just want you to know I am thinking about you at this time. I remember us being together at Bent Creek for the Mother/Daughter banquets with our moms. They always enjoyed it so much and has left me with such good memories. I loved the pictures you shared especially of the one of Girline standing by the car in her polka dotted dress and strappy shoes! Those are the things that will make your heart smile many times. Hugs to you and much love. Phyllis McKinney Jamison

  18. Over the years we really enjoyed Girline. We worked at the Villa while she was there. She always has a smile and a quick wit. Even if she was had fallen and we were getting her up. Her smile never failed. Many prayers for your family. Melissa (from the Villa Kitchen) and Deirdre ( The hair dresser)

    • She loved you ladies! I’m glad you have good memories of her. It was fun to sit in the beauty shop and listen to those little ladies, and I always seemed to come to lunch on brussel sprout days!

  21. Loved this lady and family for years. Such a joy to see her and hear her jokes and giggles. Rest in peace. Love to Sandi and family.

  22. Girline was always such a treat to be around. I knew her at the Villas and then at Pisgah Manor where she and my mom, Merle Ball, were on the same hall. She was wonderful to talk to and always had that great smile. She was kind to Mom which our family appreciated very much. She will be missed by many but, like Mom, I think she is in a better place now.

  23. I was a nurse for a short time at Piegan Manor 3 years ago and I remember Ms. Price fondly. She was without a doubt my favorite resident. I was immediately drawn to her because she reminded me of my own dear grandmother who was like a saint. Ms. Price was also like a saint. The kindest, sweetest, most patient lady. She was such a precious soul. She left an imprint in my heart and I will always remember her. Although I am sad she is no longer here, I am so happy for her to be whole and well again, basking in the light and the love of our Lord. She is home now waiting for you all patiently and having the greatest adventures 🌺💜🙌
