Gladys Clark Huskey

Gladys Clark Huskey went to Heaven on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. She was born in Swain County on May 30, 1914, the daughter of the late William L. and Dolly W. Clark. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Huskey, her daughter, Lois H. Gosnell, her grandson, Gary L. Black, two sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her two daughters, Violet H.Briggs and Barbara H. Black; two grandsons, and their wives, Kent and Lisa Briggs, Randy and Theresa Briggs; four great grandchildren, Morgan, Matthew, Alexandria and Cody and several nephews and nieces. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Gladys loved all her family and friends. In her earlier years, she enjoyed working in her vegetable and rose gardens. Gladys was a friend and loved all animals especially her cat. Mollie, who was her loving companion for many years. A special thank you to Martha King and to Hospice Care Partners, Carrie Greenarck and David Moretz for their excellent, warm and loving care of Gladys during the last several months of her life. A Celebration of Gladys life will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Tunnel Road chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Rev. James Lamb will officiate and burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
