Gladys Marie Brigman

Gladys R. Brigman, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family. A native of Haywood County, she resided in Black Mountain and Asheville most of her life. She was a member of Buckeye Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the Frank and Alpha Raines. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, 1st Lt. Lyle Smith and her husband of 63 years, William B. Brigman; her sister Betty Raines and brother William Raines. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Giezentanner (Harry); her son, Dennis Brigman (Debbie); her grandchildren, Kelly Giezentanner, Kristen Gentry (Duane), Michael Giezentanner, Preston Brigman (Amber), Justin Brigman (Lacie), all of Asheville; her beloved great-grandchildren, Nicholas Gentry of Raleigh, Chloe Gentry of Savannah, Gemma Brigman and Katie Brigman of Asheville. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Milton of Black Mountain and several nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to her companion of 2 ½ years, Laverne Stafford, special caregiver, Debbie Sharp and Dr. James Ladd. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, November 16th at the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with her nephew, Rev. Steve Harris officiating.
