Gladys A. Yeager, born April 11, 1923 in Tarboro, NC went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2013. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Kinlaw and father, Oscar P. Taylor; three sisters, Jean, Helen and Margaret; two husbands, Council J. Armstrong Sr. and Earl W. Yeager and one son, Col. Robert E. Armstrong, US Army Reserve. Mrs. Yeager is survived by her older sister, Louise of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Mary Ann Costa of Bel Air, MD; one son, Council J. (Pete) Armstrong Jr. of Asheville, NC as well as seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. After living in Baltimore since 1950, she spent the last five years of her life residing in Asheville with Pete and his wife, Im and was a member of Avery's Creek United Methodist Church. Gladys was an employee of Hutzler Brothers Department Store in Baltimore for more than 30 years, rising from sales associate to supervisor and finally, buyer in ladies apparel. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Frank Ramos officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, north of Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Daniel Boone Council, 333 West Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801 or Baltimore Area Council, Boys Scouts of America, 701 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore, MD 21211.
