Glenn Ralph Sprouse

Glenn Ralph Sprouse, 85, of Asheville, died on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at VA Medical Center Hospice. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Grover and Mary Jane Clark Sprouse. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mae Belle Gentry, and Irene Owenby; and by his brothers, James and Harvey Sprouse. Mr. Sprouse had retired as a butcher at The Fresh Market. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of VFW Post #891, and American Legion Post #2. He was also a member of Elkwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Sprouse is survived by his wife, Betty VanArsdale Sprouse; daughter, Melissa Kay Sprouse, of the home; son, Randy Frady and wife Georgia, of Woodfin; sister, Lucille Capps, of Marion; and his special cat, "Lucy Lou." A funeral service for Mr. Sprouse will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Tunnel Rd. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Allen officiating. Mr. Sprouse's burial will be private.
