Gordon “Bob” Dyer, 83, of Asheville, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Asheland Ridge Health Care. Born in Buncombe County to the late William Gordon and Luella Dover Dyer, he was a personnel manager for Banjo Performance for twenty-two years; a field rep for Asheville Oil and general manager for Napa. He enjoyed being a ham operator N4ELY, played the steel guitar and was a member of Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge 118 AF and AM in Asheville Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gladys Rhew Dyer; daughters, Staci Dyer of Asheville and Paula Fox (Daryl) of Fairview; grandson, Greg Parham (Maryann) of Fletcher and great, grandson, Conner Parham. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Rev. Earl Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asheland Ridge Health Care, 91 Victoria Rd., Asheville, NC. 28801, or to Care Partners, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC, 28813.

  1. My sweet friend Paula and Daryl, I can’t tell you how my heart goes out to you~ even knowing this was coming.. it doesn’t matter. You and his family was everything to Bob. He loved his friends, and most of all.. He loved The Lord.
    Please know I am praying for you without ceasing. God is good, I pray He will wrap his loving arms around you and peace will be yours if only for a little while a day.. Heaven is a better place today- cause your Daddy is there. What joy in knowing, we will see out loved ones again. God love you all…..

  13. I am sorry for your loss. Bob would come by my plant R&D Plastics every Tuesday morning and we would have a cup of coffee and talk. He did this for almost 8 years. I will miss those talks as I did when he had to stop coming by.He was a good friend I will miss him so. God Bless.
