Grace Davenport Freeman, 101, of Alexander, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Emerald Ridge Health Care Center.
Mrs. Freeman was born November 29, 1912, in Transylvania Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Freeman, and by an infant daughter.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by a son, Major Freeman, Jr., and his wife, Sharon, of Alexander; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dear Major and Sharon so sorry for your loss . She lived a good long life but that doesent make it any easier . Our thoughts and prayers are with you May God give you strength and comfort at this time and through the years to come praying Linda and Ben Barnes
Major and Sharon, I am so saddened to hear of Ms. Grace’s passing. She lived a good long life, now she has joined your daddy and our Lord in Heaven. Ms. Grace worked hard all her life from daylight til dark caring for her family and raising her garden.God will punish those who brought ill will upon her several years ago. Deeds like that do NOT go unpunished no matter how many years go by.I am proud to say that you all are distant kin and will keep you all in my prayers.
