Grover Franklin Gaddis, 73, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at his home in Asheville. A native of Jackson County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Essie Dean Gaddis and by a granddaughter, Heather Augusta Gaddis. Mr. Gaddis was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked for 38 years as an electrician for M.B. Haynes. He was a hard working man and he loved his job and the people he worked with. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Peggy Smoot Gaddis; daughters, Ingrid Swayngim and Nylora Gaddis; sons, Grover Gaddis, Jr., Johnny Gaddis (Ame) and Phillip Dean Gaddis (Sheenna); grandchildren, Brandon Swayngim, Sheena Swayngim and fiancé Michael Hagan, Johnathan Gaddis, Ky-Lee Barnes, and Jeremy and Justin Dean; sister, Mary Beasley, and brothers, Floyd Gaddis (Joyce) and Dewey Gaddis (Ellen). A memorial service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Happy Valley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Memorials may be made to Happy Valley Baptist Church, 28 Happy Valley Road, Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  2. Peggy my prayers are with you and your family at this time. I always new Grover as Frank. He was a great man that I had great respect for. He worked hard and provided for his family. I remember him as a kind gently quite man who spoke little and smiled every time I seen him.. I may not be with you but I will be there in spirit. May you be blessed in you time of grief. I love you.
