Grover Wells, 80, of Marshall, died on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Madison Co., Mr. Wells was a son of the late Elgin and Roxie Ballew Marlor. He was also the adopted son of Jerome and Ethel Wells. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Myrtle Frances Brown Wells; sister, Clara Rogers; and brother, Norman "Red" Marlor. He owned and operated Wells Foreign Car for many years. He was a veteran of U.S. Army and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Loretta Pounders (Mike), and Deborah Roberts (Brian); four sons: Bruce Wells (Sandy), Richard Wells (Tricia), Keith Wells (Wendy), and Tim Wells (Tracy); sister, Polly Seitler; brother, Robert Marlor (Ivrene); grandchildren: Bridgett Crawford (Rhoby), Gary Pounders (Lacy), Josh Pounders (Heather), Ashley Wells, Terry Brown, Jr. (Jennifer), Daniel Brown (Shyanne), Crystal Brown, Andy Berry, Travis Roberts (Abby), Taylor Roberts (Rosa), Zeb Stewart (Vicki), Heidi Beshers (John), and Denise Lanning (Mikey); a number of great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Mr. Wells will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, father-in-law, and friend. A funeral service for Mr. Wells will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Turner, Billy Brown and Bud Marlor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the North Carolina Honor Guard. His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

    Mr. Wells and his two sons (BRUCE AND KEITH) have serviced our furnace for many,many years and we have always been friends! We have had no worries about our heat all the time!! They are great people along with Sandy!

  11. I always called Grover my car doctor. He saw me through a VW and several Subaru’s. He could listen to a motor run and practically diagnose it. I always blew my horn at him when he was sitting on the front steps to the house and he would wave to me. He will be greatly missed by the neighborhood.
