Hartcel Bascomb Hensley, 83, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at CarePartners Solace Center.
Mr. Hensley was born September 19, 1938, in Yancey County to the late Rev. John Bascomb and Elvia Mae Austin Hensley. He was a Navy veteran and worked as a long distance truck driver owner/operator for 68 years with Carolina Freight and APAC.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Roberson Hensley; son, Robert B. Hensley (Tammy); grandson Robert Grant Hensley (Danielle Warren – who he considered as his own granddaughter); great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Hensley, and brother, Daniel Hensley.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery, McDowell County, with Pastors Jimmy Page and Junior Boone officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I am so sorry to hear that Hartcel has passed away he was my cousin Elvia Austin was my mother Elsie sister .Hartcel was always joking and full of life .Sue and family may God bless you and give you the strength that you need to go thru this time of grief .
