Harley Maxwell Green, 86, of Fairview, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at The Laurels of Hendersonville. A native of Buncombe Co., Harley was a son of the late Harry and Valeria Green. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye M. Green, sister, Jane Duval, and brothers, Len, Van, Raymond, John, and Fred Green. Mr. Green was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from the U.S. Postal service, and attended Trinity of Fairview Church. Surviving are his daughter, Vicki Warren and husband John; sons, Greg Green and wife Cindy, and Mickey Green; grandchildren, Ronnie Rice (Brandy), Eric Green (Jennifer), Brandon Green (Alesha), Ashley Green, Derek Green, Jared Green, and Neleah Green; great-grandchildren, Hailey Rice, Madison Green, and Aubrey Green; and beloved dog “Peanut”. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stacey Harris officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family expresses thanks to the staff at The Laurels of Hendersonville for their excellent care during his time there.

  3. Thoughts and prayers are with the family. My dad and Mr. Green we’re really close when they worked at the Post Office together. Mrs. Green was such a nice lady as well. I remember them coming by the house when I was a little girl. I also remember Mr. Green with that infectious smile of his always.

  4. I enjoyed working with Harley at the USPS processing center. He was always pleasant with a smile on his face. I missed him when he retired. I remember Faye visiting him at work, how nice she was. My prayers are with the family.

    So sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. Please know you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. We just had a service for my uncle at the veteran’s cemetery…..it is a beautiful place.
