HAROLD E. HUFF NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Harold E. Huff, 79, succumbed to pneumonia late Friday night, Oct. 8, 2010. Harold was born May 28, 1931, in Leicester and moved to Newport News, VA with his wife, Rosa Lee Snyder Huff in 1954. He graduated from Leicester High School and attended classes at North Carolina State University. Harold retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia in 1996 with 42 years of service. Those he left behind to honor his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Rosa Lee Snyder Huff, previously of Asheville, both of their children, son, Lewis Huff and his wife Sherry of Hampton, VA; and daughter, Judy Huff Polentz and her husband Michael of Gloucester, VA. and six grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Perry Huff and his wife Peggy of Leicester. Those who met him at the pearly gates are his parents, the late Frank Huff and Edna Huff-Brown, a sister, Eleanor Crutcher, a brother, Robert Huff, and a nephew, Christopher Huff, all of Leicester. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Bell United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Wolfe officiating. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of arrangements.

    My name is Peggy Teague Bennett and I was a school-mate of Harolds. I remember him as a boy who liked to play tricks on his teachers and classmates. I last saw him 10 years ago at our 5oth reunion.From time to time Robert would let me know how you all were doing. I am so sorry for his death and ask our matchless Lord to send you relief and comfort as you pass through this Valley of Sadness.
