Harold James Maxwell

Harold James Maxwell, 77, of 167 Old County Home Road, Asheville, died Thursday, August 25, 2005, at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Joseph Kelly and Elva Loretta Hunter Maxwell and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Maxwell and Glenn Maxwell. He was retired from Ingles Grocery Stores and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife, Ellen Fannon Maxwell; a daughter, Sherry Almond of Asheville; a sister, Sue M. Plemmons of Asheville; a brother, Billy B. Maxwell of Iva, SC; two granddaughters, Cynthia Baird of Asheville and Lisa Lancaster of Goldsboro and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronnie Owen officiating. Private burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Mt.
