Harold Lewis Corbin Spurrier, 75, of 4 North Ridge Lane, Candler, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mr. Spurrier was born in Roanoke, VA, and was a son of the late Samuel Dowd and Thelma Dellinger Spurrier. He graduated from Belmont Abbey and attended Wake Forest University and was the owner of Spurrier Flooring. He was an Eagle Scout and a friend to all. He enjoyed Square Dancing and was a member of the Asheville Allemanders Square Dance Club. He was a member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. Surviving are his wife, Martha Tierney Spurrier; three daughters, Roxie Trombini of Simpsonville, SC and Suzie Brady and Amy Newberry of Candler; five sons, David Spurrier of Connelly Springs, Dan Spurrier of Leesburg, FL, Michael Spurrier of Lincolnton, Bill Spurrier of Gastonia and Steve Spurrier of Candler; twenty-six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglas B. Tilley officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, Black Mountain. His family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church, 2 Bear Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  14. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Harold,s family. Our relationship goes back to the late 40’s when we were students at Brevard College.
    I still have one of his specialty rugs he gave me. It was a ‘Throw Rug’ shaped like a foot. I will cherish it always.
