Harry Clark “Skip” Sharpe, Jr., 53, of 20 Rowntree Lane, Leicester, died Saturday, August 10, 2002, at his home. Mr. Sharpe was born in Mecklenburg County and was a son of Billie Shirley Sharpe of Mt. Holly and the late Harry C. Sharpe, Sr. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of Martinez United Methodist Church in Martinez, GA. He was employed as a Purchasing Agent for TSA Choice Telecommunications. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Vicki Denby Sharpe; one son, Harry Clark Sharpe III of Asheville; three sisters, Carol Tench and her husband Carl of Denver, Kathy Dixon and her husband Mike of Concord, and Robin Rhom and her husband Eddie of Mt. Holly; two nieces and two nephews, Tiffany Kolbay and her husband Mike of Stanley, Leigh Dixon of Concord, Scott Dixon of Concord and Morgan Rhom of Mt. Holly; a number of aunts including Marie Shirley of Mt. Holly; and special friends Dan and Ginny Cardinali. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte, with Evelyn Newman officiating. His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

  1. Please accept our sincere condolences, we are still in shock. Skip and I often reminisced about our Navy days. He was a wonderful person, a good friend and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

    I was sadden to hear of the suddenness of Skip’s death. Please know that Skip was a truly great man. Wilcox Travel has been a customer of Skip’s for years and every time I worked with him I was so impressed with his care and skill. I will miss him greatly.   9. It was our privilege to know Skipper at St. James United Methodist Church in Charlotte. When he and his family would come home to see his Mother, we would sit behind them at church. He was always so friendly when he greeted us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.
