Harry Jack Canter

Harry J. Canter, of Givens Estate, died Friday, February 4, 2004 , in a local hospital. A resident of Buncombe County, he was son of the late Ella McIntosh and William P. Canter. He was a member of the JA Nichols Lodge of Masonic Order. He was also a member of St. Pauls Methodist Church. Mr. Canter retired from American Enka where he was an Industrial Photographer. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Parham Canter; one daughter, Linda Floyd and her husband Skip of Rincon, GA; one son, David Canter and his wife Sharon of Fairview and three grandchildren; Tania Floyd of Atlanta, Tim Canter and his wife Allison of Holly Springs N.C., and Jeremy Canter of Asheville. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Dr. Buddy Corbin. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Saturday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road and at other times the family will be at home of the son, at 55 Buckner Way in Fairview.
