Harry W. Gaddy, 95, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Harry was the son of the late Henry and Emma Gaddy. He was preceded in death by his faithful wife of 70 years, Blanche Norton Gaddy, and by his siblings: Dan, Fannie, Carrol, Weldon, Cecil, Effie and Lois.
He is survived by his children, Jerome Gaddy (Kathie) and Janice Staggs (Jack); grandchildren, Ladson Dubac (Jay), Kellyn Hedden (Matt), Ashley Clifton (late Josh), Jordan Jaynes (Zack) and Alexis Shook (Blake); great-grandchildren Brooks Dubac, Colwyn Dubac, Kaisley Clifton, Wyatt Hedden, Landyn Jaynes, Henley Dubac, Wade Hedden, Locklyn Jaynes, Wells Hedden, and soon to be baby Shook.
A native of Buncombe County, born on July 5, 1928, Harry grew up on a dairy farm off of New Stock Road in Weaverville. He owned and operated several gas stations and auto repair shops in the West Asheville area. He wanted to thank all of his loyal customers and their families over the many, many years.
Harry loved to fish and tell “fish stories.” He was currently a member of Freedom Baptist Church and a prior long-time member of Georgetown Baptist.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Sheila Rogers and Tonya Lawrence, whose love and support went beyond caregiving.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 12, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral services will immediately follow at noon with Pastor Kellen Griffin, Freedom Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will then take place at Mount Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.
Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 50 Rice Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

If there was ever a Godly man it was Harry. He and Blanche were so loving and such an inspiration to all that was blessed to know them. I know they are together in Heaven praising their Jesus.

Never has there been a more gentle and gentlemanly man. I never heard him say a harsh word about anything or anybody. And he gave awesome hugs!! Our loss is surely heavens gain. Until I see you there, Uncle Harry. Hug Aunt Blanche for me.

Loved my “ Uncle Fuzzy “ so much ! Didn’t matter how long between times of seeing each other , it was always just like yesterday . He & Aunt Blanche were 2 of the sweetest people always. Not goodbye – but see ya later !

So Sorry Harry was my Mother’s Nancy Harlee nephew. He had a great personality and I always enjoyed when he and Blanche would come to Marion to visit. Mama always looked forward to an enjoyed remissioning I am sure they are having a reunion in Heaven. May God bless and bring confort to the family

Mr. Gaddy was a longtime and friendly neighbor in the Starnes Cove community. His smile and good natured encouragement attended my every encounter with him. God bless all of you – family!
