Hassle Davis, 65, of Yonges Island, SC, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in a Charleston, SC, hospital. A native of Big Laurel, NC, he was a son of the late William and Beatrice Rice Davis. He was a retired terminal manager with G&P Trucking Company in Greenville, SC and Charleston, SC and was the owner of Davis Enterprises. He was a member of the Hejaz Shriners in Greenville, SC. Mr. Davis is survived by a daughter, Vickie Benson Ellenburg of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Orlene Carroll of Greensboro, NC; a brother, Walter Davis of Alexander, NC and three grandchildren, James Anthony Benson, Jr., Alexander Davis Benson and Jenna Nicole Benson, all of Simpsonville. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, Asheville, NC. Burial will follow at Redmon Baptist Church Cemetery, Leicester, NC. His family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

  1. I remember the days when Hassle and I had the best time. We always were attending Shrine dances. He always wanted me to dress up and not wear jeans. Vickie, I am sorry about the loss of your dad. He was a great person and I have fond memories of him.
