Hattie Mae Owen

Hendersonville – Hattie Mae Souther Owen, 79, passed away at her residence after a short illness on November 29, 2011. She was born April 1, 1932 to the late Marion and French Garren Souther. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace G. Owen; one brother, Graden Souther and one sister, Florence Vaughn. Hattie was a native of Henderson County, but was a resident of Skyland for most of her life. She worked at CTS of Asheville for 30 years and the Eaton Corporation for 10 years. Hattie is survived by one sister, Eula Jaggers of Hendersonville; three nieces, Vera Anders of Flat Rock, Marsha Robinson of Belmont, NC and Sabrina Kinsland of Asheville; one nephew, Bruce Vaughn of Mills River and eight great-nieces and nephews, including Gage and Abe Robinson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2011 in the Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
