Hattie Mae McElrath Wilson, 100, of Candler, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at Pisgah Manor Health Care. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ellie Ward McElrath. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hubert J. Wilson, who died in 1984. She was retired from American Enka and was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Frank W. Wilson and wife Emily and Bud Wilson and wife Bernice; a daughter, Ella Hardin; five grandchildren, Sandra Todd, Randy, Larry, Danny and Tom Wilson; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and two special friends, Marian Hamlin and Charles Blaylock. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Thurman and G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Hice Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to John F.   1. I worked at pisgah manor back in 2003/2004. I loved Hattie with all my heart. She was one of my favorite patients to take care of. Her family was so nice and considerate as well. After I quit working there, I missed Mrs. Hattie so much. I am thankful that she went home to be with the Lord.
