Hazel Dean Cook, 80, of 504 S. Turkey Creek, Leicester, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Cook was a native of Surrency, GA, and was a daughter of the late Mark and Ethel Medders Overstreet and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dr. Carson B. Burgstiner, who died in 1997. She was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class at Newfound Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Cook Burgstiner and Greta Cook Graves and her husband Charles R. Graves, all of Leicester; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Newfound Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Phillips and Mark Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ronnie Patton, Max Parham, Gay Israel, Mike Ingle, D.C. Whitlock and David Hawkins will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to Gideons International, PO Box 1007, Asheville, NC 28802.
