Arden – Hazel Elrod Sugg, 83, of Arden, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at her residence.
A native and life-long resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Miriam Ball Elrod. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John E. Sugg who died in 2008.
Hazel retired from Sears and Roebuck after 32 years of service.
She is survived by a nephew, Larry Sitton of Asheville as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Green Hills Cemetery. A rosary will be said at 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7:00 PM.

Sorry we cannot be at the services. Hazel enjoyed life and was an important part of our family. We will miss her!
While deeply saddened by the loss of aunt hazel I am comforted with many fond memories of happier times. Peace be with you!
She always treated me like one of the family and was an awesome lady. We will miss you!
My prayers are with the family during this time of loss. Miss Hazel was a former neighbor and she was such a wonderful friend. She loved our children like they were her own and will be sorely missed.

Oh, what wonderful memories I have of Hazel (and John). What a beautiful couple they were – we will miss Hazel but I’m sure she & John are looking down on us with smiles. Much love and peace to her family.
