Hazel Lucille Caldwell, 87, of Candler, died on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at her home, where her daughter took loving and excellent care of her. She was a native of Buncombe Co., and was a daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth Sharpe Owenby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Caldwell. She owned the Mnt. View Drive-In in Candler. She was a loving mother and aunt, and her family loved her dearly. Mrs. Caldwell is survived by her son, James Cleveland "Jimmy" Caldwell, III, and wife Robin, of Candler; daughter, Sherron Yvonne Hileman, of Candler; grandson, Scotty Eugene Warren and wife Heather, of Hendersonville; great-granddaughter, Brijette Nichole Warren; nieces, Gayle Grant and Vicky Hollifield; and nephew, Terry King. Her family will receive friends at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Louis Gibson will officiate.

  3. I cannot count the meals my late husband Terry and I ate from the Drive-In which was famous for their fried chicken. Hazel would often greet each and every customer by name which in this day and time is a has been. Heaven has welcomed an Angel home. If the old saying is true about Pastors and chicken, Hazel is gonna be busy for many years to come in her Drive-In in the Sky. God Bless you all.

  4. Jimmy just wanted to say we all Loved the good times at the Mtn. View with JC and Cotton. She will be sadly missed but the memories will last a life time for us. Your Mom and JC, Hoover Payne and Whale-belly, Om, Levi, Gladys, Earnest and Jim-Ed have got the road cut short for them. We will take’ the long way home’ I guess. We Love youns Lots and pray that God will give you all comfort in the days to come.
