Mrs. McElrath had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life and was a daughter of the late Miles Earl and America Belle White Ridley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack McElrath and her son, Jack Edward McElrath.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jim Goss of Candler; a granddaughter and her husband, Kathy and Terry Ballard of Asheville; two grandsons, Steven Hendrix of Wilmington and John McElrath and his wife Charlotte of Stuart, FL; and one brother, David Ridley of Clarksville, GA.
Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry Duckworth officiating.
Her family will be at the residence and request that memorials be made to Pisgah Manor Nursing Center, Holcombe Cove Road, Candler, NC 28715.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
