An amazing lady, Helen Case Austin, 87, of 22 Atwood Lane, Candler, went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at St. Joseph?s Campus Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late Loy O. and Ella Burnett Case. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delton Cornelius Austin, her sister, Charlotte Allison, and her two brothers Luther Case and Cecil Case. Mrs. Austin was a homemaker and a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Austin was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a sweet inspiration to everyone. Surviving are two daughters, Norma Kanupp Norman, of Skyland, and JoAnn Reece, of Asheville; special niece, who was like a daughter, Marlene Allison, of Candler; sister, Betty Hyatt and her husband Bill of Candler; grandchildren, Art and Gretchen Kanupp, Pam and Greg Parham, Darlene Reece, Rev. Dwayne and Debbie Reece, and Donna and David Gross; and 11 great-grandchildren Adam and Caleb Howard, Michael and Matthew Kanupp, Amanda Ray, Matthew and Emily Reece, Jesse, Jamie, Jacob and Joey Gross. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy Houston and Dwayne Reece officiating. Interment will follow at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Memorials may be made to the New Morgan Hill Baptist Building Fund, 370 Lake Dr., Candler, NC, 28715.
