Helen Katherine McCracken

Helen Katherine McCracken, 74, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Brooks-Howell Home. Miss McCracken was a native of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Dr. Marvin H. and Loretta Zippler McCracken. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dolores M. Briggs. Miss McCracken served as an administrative assistant with UNC-Asheville and was a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence, D.M. She is survived by her sister, Loretta McInturff, and her husband Hank, of Weeki Wachee, FL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. C. Morris Boyd, D.Min, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Basilica of St. Lawrence. Interment will follow at Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
