Helen Quinn Childers Fletcher – Helen Quinn Childers, 78, of Fletcher, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Universal Healthcare Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late David and Bertha Butler Quinn. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Helen was a charter member of Skyland Baptist Church. She is survived by her former husband, Clell M. Childers of Arden; one son, James Childers and his wife, Anita, of Fletcher; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend David Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
