Helen Juanita Redmon Minyard, 67, of 29 Woodland Terrace, Asheville, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at her home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy C. Redmon. Mrs. Minyard is survived by her husband, Jack Bedford Minyard; two daughters, Marilyn Ann Aidif of Mt. Morris, MI and Jackie Sue Minyard of Cliffside, NC; a sister, Doris June Watts of Leicester; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Marc Penley officiating. Burial will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call or come by the residence following the service.

    MY HEART WAS DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE LOSS OF JAN. SHE WAS A BIG PART OF MY CHILDHOOD AND I HAVE SUCH FOND MEMORIES OF HER. SHE ALWAYS TREATED ME LIKE ONE OF HER OWN. JAN WAS A GOOD PERSON WITH A BIG HEART AND SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.
