Mrs. Dills was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Britt and Gladys M. Davis Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Garland Dills who died August 26, 2000, a daughter, Deborah Rumbough in 1992, and by an infant son, Wesley Eugene Dills. She was a member of Inanda Baptist Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Barbara Allen of Alexander, Sarah Ferguson of Asheville, Juanita Putnam and Mary Moore of Canton, and Rhonda Dills of Leicester; one sister, Linda Ward of Leicester, three brothers, Howard Ward and Jimmy Ward of Leicester and Eddie Ward of Swannanoa; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Donnie Henson and O.J. Skidmore officiating. Burial will be at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
