Helena Ward Teague, 89, of 957 North Turkey Creek Road, Leicester, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals.
Mrs. Teague was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Ecton and Anna Smith Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Millard Teague, who died in 1991, and by a great-granddaughter, Holly Noel Maynor. Mrs. Teague retired from Square D and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Vivian Austin and her husband, Don, of Leicester; two sons, William H. ?Bill? Teague and his wife Linda, of Leicester, and J. Ralph Teague and his wife, Elizabeth, of Braselton, GA; a brother, John H. Ward, Sr. of Asheville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beulah Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Wolfe and Don Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6:30 ? 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of Vivian and Don Austin, 956 North Turkey Creek Road.

Cousins, Ralph, Vivian and Bill we will be praying for you. Lena was a very ‘Special’ lady always with a smile. My greatest memories are visiting her and Millard and feeling such a warm welcome.
Vivian, Bill and Ralph, I have many good memories of Aunt Lena and the times I spent there in the summer. I especially remember making ice cream on Sunday afternoons when we were all so young. Love and Best Wishes. Gwen

Mrs. Teague was such a gentle and kind person. She always did everything that she could to help me feel welcome, and a true part of the Teague family. When I married Tiffany, she did the same for her, although they had not had the opportunity to meet. She will be missed.
