Henry Carter Smeltzer
Swannanoa ~ Henry Carter Smeltzer, 81, of Swannanoa, died Monday, September 17, 2007, at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Madison Co., he was the son of the late Fred Hartzel and Hattie Harkarow Smeltzer. Henry was also preceded in death by his son, Fredrick Carter Smeltzer who died in 2003.
He was a member of Buckeye Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Reba Bright Smeltzer; a daughter, Diane Smeltzer of Asheville; and two grandsons, Shane and Freddy Smeltzer, both of Asheville.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Buckeye Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of the arrangements.

Wish we could be there for you as we will ALWAYS remember how you were there for us when Wayne died. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you ALL. We’re so sorry for your loss and wish you GOD SPEED. The last I talked to Mama (Rose) he had been doing well but I guess the Lord wanted him home. Take Care & you can call me anytime. I will tell Mama to give you my phone no. in case you don’t have it.

Dear Diane & family – I hope the good memories will help you with your loss . He was a special person & I am so thankful I had the privaledge of knowing him . He always smiled from ear to ear when I ask about you & your Mom – he was so proud of his family. The last time I saw him , I got a hug & I am so glad I did.
