Henry Musser “Hank” Landis, Jr., 85, of Concord, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at The Landings at Mills River.

Born in Charlotte, he was the husband of the late Carolyn Marie (Starnes) Landis, and the son of the late Henry Musser Landis, Sr. and Esther (Frick) Landis. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Landis, and a sister, Harriet Missy James.

A Marine Corps veteran, Hank was employed as a firefighter with the Charlotte Fire Department for a number of years until his retirement.

Hank was an avid sports fan, especially of the Charlotte Panthers, and he loved his grandchildren and a cold Miller Lite.

Hank is survived by two daughters: Virginia Penland and her husband M. Travis of Arden and Rebecca Hayes and her husband Patrick of Concord; and five grandchildren: Garrett Evan Penland, Henry Landis Penland, Alice Hayes, Emma Hayes, and McKinley Hayes.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life in honor of our dad, Hank Landis, and have one last beer on Hank!

Hank loved a party and spending time with friends and family so let’s come together to share our stories, memories, and to celebrate his life.
