Herschel Bryan Greene

Herschel Bryan Greene, 89, of Candler, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019.

A native of Buncombe Co., Herschel was a son of the late Herbert Bryan and Lois Roberson Greene. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Capt. George-Bryan Houghton, and by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Greene was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Kraft for 25 years, and retired from Milkco.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Boone Greene; daughter, Darlene G. Houghton (George); grandsons, Daniel Houghton and Dr. Patrick Houghton (Michelle); 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Swann.

Graveside services for Mr. Greene will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Allen Rash will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue, prior to the service.
