Hettie Lou Edwards

Hettie Lou Norton Edwards, 67, of 8 Cherry Grove Road, Asheville, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Edwards was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Kelly and Ornan Cody Norton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Edwards who died August 21, 2000, two brothers, Zane and Burland Norton, and a sister, Mary Ruth Fox. She had been employed by Stroupe’s Rest Home for 26 years and was a member of the First Church of God of Hanover Street for 30 years. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Scott and Cynthia Roberts Edwards of Weaverville; three sisters, Velma Fox of Kernersville, Nancy Crane of Mars Hill, and Gail Lloyd of Etowah, TN; and two brothers, Olin Norton of White Pine, TN and James Norton of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dedrick Clark officiating. Graveside rites will be at 9:00 am Saturday at Lewis Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening immediately following the service until 8:00 pm.
