Arden ? Hilda Stroupe Austin Sorrells, 77, of Arden, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Mission Hospitals, St. Joseph?s Campus following a brief illness. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Herman W. and Marie Gray Stroupe. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Edward Austin. Mrs. Sorrells graduated from Biltmore High School in 1949. She was a longtime and devoted member of Biltmore Baptist Church and has been a volunteer at Mission Hospitals for more than 40 years. She was also in the Order of the Eastern Star, formerly Biltmore Chapter 38, currently, Vance Chapter #285. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Albert Sorrells; two sons, Hal E. Austin of Asheville and Mark Sorrells and his wife Gina of Chapin, SC; four sisters, Edith S. Ensley, Doris S. Clayton, Margie S. Loven and Ann S. Coffey, all of Asheville; one brother, Wesley Stroupe of Asheville and two grandchildren, Tanner and Austin Sorrells. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Biltmore Baptist Church with the Revs. Ryland Whitehorn and Harold Savell officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM on Tuesday at Biltmore Baptist Church.   5. Hilda was an amazing person. In the more than 50 years she has been family I have not heard her say an unkind word about anyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. My condolence to Albert, Hal, and Mark.
