Asheville – Homer Lee Huntley, 75, of Liberty Street, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at his residence.
A native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Carl and Mildred Duckett Huntley. He also was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Huntley was a member of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church and a former hydraulic mechanic supervisor with E.A. Industries, retiring after 34 years service. He had served with the National Guard and the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW. He had volunteered as a driver with Mountain Mobility and Meals on Wheels, volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital and was a former courier with APAC Paving.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Hensley Huntley, daughter, Carla Phillips and her husband Richard of Asheville; sons, Randy Huntley and his wife Linda of Arden and Jerry Huntley, and his wife Bonnie of Asheville; his brother Norman Huntley of Fairview; ten grandchildren, Bobby Holcombe, and his wife Jennifer, Tracey Phillips Leidheiser and her husband Bill, Melissa Huntley, Micah Huntley, Jessica Huntley, Justina Huntley, Garrett Huntley, Britt Chapman and his wife Emily, Kati Chapman and LCpl. Drew Chapman; four great-grandchildren, Will Holcombe, Anna and Conrad Leidheiser and Neil Chapman; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in Hoopers Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Rhodes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hubert M. Smith VFW Post #5206, the Hedrick-Rhodes American Legion Post #77 and the DAV Chapter #14.
The family will receive friends from 7 pm until 8:30 pm Tuesday at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church.

Family, sorry for your loss. Homer was a sweet kind special man. He will be deeply missed. He always had a kind word whenever we met. Our deepest sympathy to the family. God Bless.

Was sorry to read of Mr Huntley’s death. It was just recently that I saw him out walking in the yard. I remember when Cynthia Frady and I used to come visit you when she lived across from me on Liberty Street. Mother and Daddy also send their condolences.

We remember Homer fondly. He had a special love for family and friends. He always made people smile and feel welcome at his home. We also recall fond memories of camping at Bent Creek. We are so sorry for your loss.
