Homer Wilburn "Junior" Barnes, Jr., 79, of Sugar Creek Road, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at his home. Born in Madison Co., Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Homer W. and Helen Kate Revis Barnes, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joy Katherine Stanley Barnes, and sons, Ricky, Robert Lee, and Russell Barnes. He was a retired tobacco farmer. Surviving are three daughters, Debra Surrett, Diane Barnes and Pat Surrett; sons, Dennis and Kevin Barnes; sisters, Betty Holt, Mary Ogle, Barbara Bishop, Sandra Boyd, and Kathy Ollis; brothers, Willard, Charles, and Everette Barnes; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Teagues Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
