Horace Burton Rogers, Jr., 90, of Candler, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the CarePartners Solace Center.

Born September 10, 1932 in Buncombe Co., Horace was a son of the late Horace Burton Rogers, Sr. and Flora Henderson Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Buchanan Rogers, sister, Thelma Perry and a brother, Gene Rogers.

Mr. Rogers was a Staff Sgt in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a mechanical engineer for BASF, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Pole Creek Baptist Church, and was a Carolina Tar Heel and Atlanta Brave’s fan.

Surviving is his son, Larry Rogers (Debbie); grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Rogers; sister, Jeanette Harris; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Pisgah Manor for their care.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Reverends Ben Heise and Dennis Thurman will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
