Horace Estel Hayes, 86, of 55 Riverview Church Road, Asheville, died Friday, March 11, 2005. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Floyd Bascom and Margaret Parris Hayes and was also preceded in death by his wife, Rose Henderson Hayes, who died in 1982. He was retired from Moser Plumbing Co. and a member of Riverview Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, James Hayes of Charlotte and Richard Hayes of Asheville; a brother, Charles B. Hayes and his wife Peggy of Hendersonville; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

  4. I have known Horace for many many years. I remember the day that Horace and Rose was married at Riverview Church. Horace was a good guy. Prayers to Ricky and Estel and all the family.

  8. I worked with Gabby at Moser, Inc. a few years prior to his retirement and we became friends. He was a happy man and always had a smile. He was a very special friend and I will miss him. To Rick and the rest of the family, may you feel God’s comfort during this time of sorry at the loss of your Dad and Grandfather.
