Howard Edward Trexler, 85, died Saturday, May 1, 1999.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Adam Lewis and Bessie Mae McFee Trexler. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Harris Trexler; sisters, Legia McPherson, Betty McCall and brothers, Ernest McFee Trexler, Charles Lewis “Buck” Trexler and Roby W. Trexler. He was a retired employee of the VA Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Hamilton Trexler; daughter, Ruth Trexler Head of Asheville; sisters, Nelle Morissette and Mary Wilson of Asheville, Roselyn Davis of Arden; his twin brother, Harold Edwin Trexler, of Asheville, brothers, A.K. “Ted” Trexler and Jack Wesley Trexler of Candler; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 pm Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by Don Howell.
Interment will be in Green Hills Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home at Lake Julian.
