Howard Mack Rollins

Howard Mack Rollins, 66, of Black Mountain, died Friday, April 19, 2002, at a local hospital.
A native and life-long resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late R. M. and Alene Gasperson Rollins. He was an Army Veteran, an active volunteer at Mission/St. Joseph’s, a help to many and a great friend to all.
Mr. Rollins was the oldest of 12 children and was the beloved brother and brother-in-law of David and Elizabeth Rollins of Augusta, GA; Charles and Sherry Rollins of Asheville; Zane Rollins of Weaverville; Charlene Lance of Fairview; Pamela and Stanley Harkins of Asheville; Ginger and Kevin Johnston of Leicester; 10 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews and 3 great great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Brian Center Weaverville, attention of the Activity Department/Ginger Johnston, 78 Weaver Boulevard, Weaverville, NC 28787.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. William Maddox and all of the staff at Owen Heart Center and Asheville Cardiology for the wonderful care that was provided.
My prayers go out to all of the family and friends of Howards. Howard was very special to me and although I can’t be there he was always in my thoughts. I’ll miss him and all of his funny letters he wrote. His letters always were so warm and thoughtful and we will miss him very much. Love always, Goldie

I knew him long ago,we lost touch, but I never forgot. He was one of the best men I have ever known.
