Mr. Wilson was a native of Haywood County and was a son of the late Jim H. and Eliza Green Wilson, and was married to Marjorie O. Wilson who died March 14, 2000. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, John Baldwin in 1994.
He was an Army veteran of WW II and worked as a barber in West Asheville for a number of years.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Ann Smith and her husband Virgil of Candler and Sandra Waddell of Candler; two sons, Eugene Wilson of Candler and James E. Wilson and his wife Diane of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren, Jack Baldwin Leslie Waddell, Holly Bandel, Brian Wilson and Robbie Wilson; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Paul Wilson of Fort Worth, TX.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Willett officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
