Ian Allen Flax

Waynesville – Ian Allen Flax, 82, of 35 Lighthouse Road, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Mission Hospital, Asheville.

Mr. Flax was born May 30, 1939, in Bronx, NY, to the late David and Blanche Heithner Flax. He was the owner and operator of an ice cream franchise.

His family includes his wife, Diane Popkin Flax; daughter, Helen Buerge (Jeremy); stepson, David Dedrick (Mary), their son Jonah Edward Parker; stepson Joseph Dedrick (Michelle), and her daughter Lila Rose Dedrick; and stepson Robert Dedrick (Stephanie) and their sons, Samuel Grove Dedrick, Mark Ian Dedrick and Ezra Franklin Dedrick; a sister Marcia Flax (Tito Allers) and a brother, Barton Flax (Sylvia); nieces Marlene and Kareen Flax and a nephew Russell Flax.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Lou Pollock Memorial Park in Asheville with Rabbi Shaya Susskind officiating.
