Ida S. Skeens

         Ida S. Skeens, 89, of Hendersonville, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, December 1, 1998,
after a short illness.
                        
     Mrs. Skeens was a native of Barnardsville and was the daughter of the late Jim and Julie Pegg
Webb.  She was married to Andy Howard Skeens who died in 1972, and had lived in Henderson
County for 50 years.  She was a charter member and choir member of Fair Haven Baptist Church,
Sunset Drive, Hendersonville.  
She was preceded in death by a son, Kermit Skeens; a beloved grandson, Sanford (Sandy) Jones;
three sisters, Pearl Wheeler, Bertha Maynor and Dahlia Boon;  and three brothers, John, Cleotis,
and Earnest Webb.

     She is survived by two sons, Curtis J. Skeens of Hendersonville and Lamon S. Skeens and his
wife Beulah, of Crab Orchard, KY;  a daughter, Marjorie Skeens Jones and her husband Thomas
of Hendersonville;  a granddaughter, Melissa L. Jones of Kings Mountain;  a brother, Alfred
Webb of Barnardsville, and several nieces and nephews.

     A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Fair Haven Baptist Church Cemetery
with the Rev. Charles Corn officiating and a memorial service held 11 am Sunday in Fair Haven
Baptist Church.

     Her family will receive friends at her daughter’s home, 780 Crest Road, off Upward Road,
Hendersonville, following the service.
