Ignazia “Nancy” Arriddizone Sansone, 84, of 53 Mitchell Avenue, Asheville, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Termini Imerese, Sicily, she was a daughter of the late Guielermo Arriddizone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Sansone, who died in 1979 and by a brother, Guielermo Arriddizone. Mrs. Sansone moved to Asheville in 1947 and worked with her husband to open LaVonne’s Restaurant and Drive-In on Haywood Road, West Asheville’s first drive-in restaurant. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and a special member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. Sansone is survived by her daughter, Jenny Sansone Evans and her husband Harold of Asheville; a sister, Vincenza DiNova and her husband of Termini Imerese, Sicily and several nieces and nephews in Sicily.
Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Father Francis T. Cancro officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and, prior to that, from 2:00-3:00 pm at Mrs. Sansone’s residence.
