Irene Bishop Fite

Irene Bishop Fite, 101, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Pardee Hospital. A native of Asheville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Conner Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George William "Bill" Fite, a WWII Army Veteran, sisters, Haleen Warren, Lucy Betz, and Betty Wahl, and brothers Jim, Wilkie, Hugh, and Dick Bishop. Mrs. Fite retired from American Enka. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Searcy of Atlanta, and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with her nephews, the Rev. Randy Bane and Bridger Bane officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family expresses appreciation to Dr. James Caserio and to the staff of Hendersonville Health and Rehab Center for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Fite.
