Jack Hiram Carter, Jr.

Jack Hiram Carter, Jr., 89, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his residence. Born in Fayettville, NC to the late Jack, Sr. and Mae Haywood Carter, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for WNC Wachovia Bank for over 30 years. He was a charter member of the Riceville Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eugenia Ray Carter; three sons, Don Carter (Sophie) and Dan Carter (Donna) all of Asheville, and Dick Carter (Vera)of Apex; daughter, Dianne Griffin (Lee Roy)of Weaverville; and sister, Rebecca Reese of Leicester; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Bob. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Davis and Rev. Michael Cole Griffin, grandson, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
