jacqueline gorman
"Jackie" Gorman, 93, of East Asheville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2016 surrounded by her family. Jackie was born in Rochester, MN, grew up in Washington, D.C., lived in Miami, FL, and in Asheville since 1962. She was an only child of the late John Vale and Nellie Stansbury. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Gary Gorman and Richard Gorman who both died in June of 1993. She retired from the NC ADATC in Black Mountain after serving as a teacher's assistant at Haw Creek, Charles C. Bell, Fairview and Oakley Elementary Schools, and also enjoyed working at the former Blue Ridge Mental Health Center. After retirement, she enjoyed working at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Tammy Gorman of Asheville; grandchildren, Geoffrey, Jacqueline and Annie of California, Matthew Hunter and Michael Gorman, and very special grandsons, Benjamin, Joseph and Matthew, and many friends. Jackie will be remembered for her quick sense of humor, easy smile and friendly conversation. She had a reputation of sending a card or note to acknowledge all sorts of occasions. She loved a good joke, having visitors, writing, brass bands and anything to do with her grandsons. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Groce United Methodist Church. Rev. Gerald Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care Partners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC, 28813, to Groce United Methodist Church, 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC, 28805, or to the Salvation Army, 2247 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC, 28803. 1. Clint and Jackie,
My heart was deeply saddened when I read about the loss of your dear sweet mother.God has a plan for each of us.Without your Mother and all the unique values she instilled in you, I would of never met you and Jackie. That in itself has been an honor.May the Lord look kindly over your family and bring peace and love during this difficult time.I no longer live in the Asheville area and am unable to attend the services but my prayers go with you all.

  2. Clint and family,
Praying that you and your family will feel God’s divine presence in your life during this time. Thoughts and prayers to you all.
    Jeanette Sams

  3. To the Gorman family,
So sorry to read about your loss. Jackie was a participant in a clinical trial I managed on Breast Cancer Prevention. I enjoyed meeting Jackie and getting to know her over the years. She always had a great story to tell and always spoke so highly of her children and grandchildren. Just thinking of her always makes me smile. What a delightful
    lady.
