Asheville - James C. Fisk, 95, of 26 South Oak Forest Drive, died Wednesday, February 21, 2001.

A native of Meeker County, Colorado, and a former resident of Flint, Michigan, he was the son of the late William Sherman and Ramola Arnold Fisk and moved to Arden in the mid 1970’s.

Mr. Fisk was the founder of the Fisk Tool Company in Flint and held several patents for mechanical devices he had invented. He was a former member and president of the Atherton School Board in Flint and the Fisk Elementary School was named in his honor. He was a member of the Arden Presbyterian Church and the Arden Lion’s Club. He also was a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, a Shriner, a 33rd degree mason and a lifetime member of the Genesee Lodge of the Royal Arch Masons of Michigan.

Mr. Fisk is survived by his wife, Gladys Rickman Fisk; daughter, Nancy Zeller of Cleveland, Ohio; two sons, Phillip Fisk of Arden, Charles Fisk of Asheville and was father of the late Marjorie Perrone, who died in 1995. He also is survived by two sisters, Mernie Twedt of Beaver, Utah and Ester Mae Chinn of Grand Junction, Colorado and seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 am Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by Rev. Ken Crabb.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.

  1. I met Mr Fisk when he first moved to this area. A gentleman. Knew him in the Valley Springs Lions Club and at church. My condolences to his family.
